What's included in the health check-up?
Four focus areas that set the Synage preventive health check-up apart from a regular family doctor visit.
Laboratory tests
30+ markers, including biomarkers that are often not checked (ApoB, Lp(a), insulin, homocysteine, hs-CRP).
Cardiovascular risk assessment
SCORE2, ApoB/ApoA1 ratio, blood pressure, waist circumference, family history. If risks need clarification, we refer you for further investigation (e.g. carotid ultrasound) — these costs are not included in the check-up price.
Three packages
The difference lies in the scope of testing: the Deep Assessment (€1490), Health Check-Up 1 (€990), or Synage Start for new patients (€449). Interpretation of results is included in all packages.

Who this service isn't for
Honesty saves you time and money. A health check-up is not the right choice in the following situations:
- If you have acute symptoms (severe pain, fever, difficulty breathing, injury) — contact your family doctor, the ER, or an on-call doctor.
- If you only need one specific test or certificate — a direct lab order or a family doctor visit is sufficient for that.
- If you want a prescription or sick leave certificate without an assessment — we do not issue these during a preventive visit.
- If you're not willing to give samples or discuss lifestyle changes — without data, the assessment will be meaningless.

Who is a comprehensive health check-up for?+
People of any age who want to gauge their metabolic and cardiovascular age before disease develops. Especially recommended from age 35+, with a family risk (diabetes, heart attack before age 60, high cholesterol), excess weight, or chronic symptoms (fatigue, sleep problems).
How often should a health check-up be done?+
A health check-up is worth doing once a year. Extended markers (ApoB, insulin, hormones) can be repeated every 1–2 years if values are stable. The genetic test is done once in a lifetime; the microbiome analysis is usually repeated after 6–12 months if you change diet or treatment.
How does the Synage health check-up complement a family doctor's work?+
The role of the family doctor in the Estonian healthcare system is primarily diagnosis and treatment, and their work is built around clear treatment protocols and Health Insurance Fund frameworks. The Synage health check-up complements this and focuses on prevention: alongside standard tests we look at extended markers (ApoB together with LDL, insulin together with glucose, Lp(a), homocysteine, hs-CRP) and interpret results within an optimal range, so changes can be noticed before they reach the level of disease. If needed, we forward a summary to your family doctor so collaboration stays seamless.
Does this replace a family doctor?+
No, and that is not the goal. The family doctor remains your primary care physician — treatment of acute illness, prescriptions and sick leave certificates are within their competence. Our role is complementary: long-term preventive health optimization and risk-factor monitoring in collaboration with your treating physician.
Where are the tests taken?+
Tests are taken at our partner laboratory (Synlab) at a time convenient for you. Drawing blood takes 15 minutes. Urine and stool samples can be collected at home using a collection kit. Blood test results arrive within 3–7 days; the genetic test and microbiome analysis are ready in about 8 weeks.

Who this service is not for

- If you expect every specialist investigation in one visit — we refer onwards where needed.
- For acute problems (severe pain, fever, breathing difficulty, injury) — contact your GP, an on-call doctor or the emergency department.
- If you expect a replacement for diagnosis and treatment — we work alongside your GP and specialists, not instead of them.
- If you only want a prescription or a certificate without an assessment — we do not issue those at a prevention visit.
